The USD Classic Throne is the „classic“ from Universal Skate Design (USD) and is until today the most sold USD skate of all ages. The system is established:

Hard shell boot with cuff (typical hard boot) with removable liner. The used hard shell staid the same after all these years. It fascinates because of ist very light „simple“ construction. It is very robust which contributes to an enormous durability even with exceptional demands. Nevertheless it is flexible. Falls and slipping make no odds to it.

USD Classic Throne shells are produced in two double sizes (38-40, 41-42, 43-44, 45-47). One shell is usable for two or more shoe sizes. The key difference are the liners which are produced in every size separately.

This skate is a real „allround talent“ and is excellently usable for different ranges: Stability of the hard shell is again enforced through USD click buckles. If they are pressed strongly to the foot they offer the perfect condition for a half-pipe. If you ease the buckle you can try a lot of grinds in park and street area.

Despite of the hard sheell and a more high cutted cuff it is possible to flex very good to log ginds and make the thing more stylish. The perfect match of stability and flexibility makes the USD Classic Throne a first-class profi skate, but it can also show the direction for beginners for further skating.

Soulplates of the Classic Thrones have often been reengineered and in the meantime they combine a lot of advantages. Like on (almost) all skates they can be exchanged completely and they are fixed with 11 screws (6 in front and 5 at the back). The back part combines soulplate and backslideplate to one to get a direct grind feeling.

As the Classic Throne has today the same shell as 5 years ago USD had to come up with an idea to keep the skate modern. There was one main problem: UFS! (Universal-Frame-System , q.v. Information about frames). USD Classic Throne Adapter plates (soulplates) are designed for retooling old non UFS skates (as the Classic Throne is in fact!) to UFS skates as they are fixed with 11 screws (as mentioned above) on the boot. Between boot and soulplate are now T-Nuts of UFS screws. That means frames are not fixed on the boot, like at most other skates, but on the soulplates.

In the course of time the USD Classic Throne boot was delivered with many different liners and frames to find the perfect setup. Of course the perfect setup depends on particular demands of the skater.

Everyone has to find out its preferences and realise them. But to find them out you have to try a little bit. To make this easier USD launches every year two or three new setups in the shops. There are significant differences to fulfill every liking and requirements. The difference of these setups are colour, liners, frames, wheels and bearings.

Since ca. 2004 Classic Thrones are only delivered as UFS skate and therefore all frames which are available fit on this skate.
